Paris Hilton offered a couple of Bollywood Films

According to Paris Hilton, she has been offered two Bollywood films ever since she landed in Mumbai on Saturday morning to launch her new line of handbags. However, none of the offers has impressed her.

“I have been approached to do two Bollywood films. But I am not keen on them. However, if a good script comes up, I am willing to do it. Bollywood films are beautiful, I love the clothes in them,” Hilton is quoted to have said.

Meanwhile, Paris Hilton got a chance to hobnob with a lot of film stars at the party hosted by Queenie Dhody on Saturday night.

While in India, Paris seems to have taken to Indian fashion. At the launch of her new range of handbags, she was seen dressed in a sari that also had the look of a gown.

Shahid and Akshay's movies releasing this weekend

Shahid Kapoor’s movie Mausam takes on Akshay Kumar’s production Speedy Singhs this weekend. The two stars have never seen eye-to eye and now the two find themselves battling at the box-office as well.

Shahid has had major issues with the Khiladi after his role was chopped at the latter’s behest in Deewane Huye Paagal. As a drastic measure, he stopped doing films in which he was not the solo hero.
Says a source, “Shahid is banking heavily on Mausam especially since it is also his father’s (Pankaj Kapur) directorial debut.
The film has been delayed and has gone through rounds of various objections. He now wants everything go right for the film at the box-office. When the release date was pushed back due to censor issues, it was realised that his movie would be clashing with Akshay’s film. But the makers decided to go ahead. Shahid feels the film would stand on its own merit.”

Paris Hilton dons a sari on Marie Claire

Paris Hilton goes bridal in a sari! The 30-year-old hotel heiress, who is also an actress and a musician, is arriving in Mumbai on Saturday to launch her new line of handbags. So, it really doesn’t come as a surprise to see her in sari. Paris has posed in a sensuous sari for the fashion magazine Marie Claire’s October Bridal Special Issue.

Quite a glitzy affair, we say! The beautiful sari worn by Paris Hilton for the photoshoot is a Tarun Tahiliani creation. The six yards of gorgeous cloth is embellished with Swarovski crystals. In fact, Paris loves that shine, “I am obsessed with Indian designers. I love the whole Swarovski bling and all those crystals. It is gorgeous and yes, maybe I have designs on some of them for my next outing on the red carpet,” says Hilton in an exclusive interview with Neena Haridas, editor, Marie Claire India.

Reports also have it that during the photoshoot, Paris was quite the opposite of her tantrum queen image. She is a thorough professional and doesn’t have that air of being a Hilton heiress, believes the team of Marie Claire. Paris herself feels that she has grown up and is no more a reckless person.

“I think I am in the process of growing up. I am a lot more focussed on work. I have grown up so much in the last few years. I have changed the way I look at the world,” says Paris to the magazine.

Malaysian Prime Minister : Priyanka is Snobbish

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak says his favourite actress is Priyanka Chopra. But guess what he follows his statement with: Priyanka is snobbish!

Najib Abdul Razak, who has met Priyanka earlier, said on a light note: “She (Priyanka) is beautiful and talented but little snobbish. She is not that friendly.”

Najib Abdul Razak talked to the Indian journalists at his office in Putrajaya. The Indian media has been invited for a four-day trip by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies in Malaysia.

Well, he also revealed that he loves Bollywood, but is unable to watch the movies owing to their duration: “Only problem with the Hindi films is they are too lengthy and I hardly get that much time to watch the full film.”

It is a known fact that Bollywood movies are loved in Malaysia and Najib Abdul Razak agrees to it, too: “The business of the Hindi films is on the rise in our country, and we expect more business from the film industry.”

Salman reprising role in Tere Naam 2 ?

Spurred by the super success Salman Khan has been tasting at box office, director Satish Kaushik has been working on the script of the sequel of the 2003 film Tere Naam that starred Salman Khan opposite Bhumika Chawla.

“Already working on the script of 'Tere Naam 2'... it will be ready soon,” Kaushik posted on his Twitter page.

If you recall, Tere Naam had Salman playing a rowdy ex-college boy Radhe Mohan who loses his heart to first year student Nirjara (Bhoomika Chawla), a traditional Brahmin girl. Just when Nirjara reciprocates his love, Radhe is attacked by a gang of thugs, loses his mind and is admitted to a mental asylum.

Now, the question weighing on the minds of all Salman Khan fans is: should Salman do the sequel of ‘Tere Naam’?

Though Kaushik hasn’t revealed the casting plans yet, it’s almost certain that he will consider Salman to carry forward the role.

However, Salman’s stature today is much different from what it was in 2003. Today, he is the numero uno star in B-town and won’t settle for anything that doesn’t befit that stature.

Lara Dutta baby bump pics

A pregnant Lara Dutta stepped out with hubby Mahesh Bhupathi to attend the grand bash hosted by Akshay Kumar to celebrate the release of his production Speedy Singhs.

Rather than conceal her baby bump, Lara Dutta flaunted it in a blue-coloured, figure-hugging Hervé Léger skirt. The white top and a snazzy clutch gave the expectant mom a chic look.

Apart from Lara, Aishwarya Rai is also expecting a baby presently. She was recently seen visiting the Siddhivinayak Temple to offer prayers.

ShahRukh Khan in Rohit Sheety's upcoming Movie

After tickling funny bones with his Golmaal series, director Rohit Shetty has now set his mind on a love story. And this time he is not thinking of his good friend Ajay Devgan but wants Shahrukh Khan to do a film which is not going to be a comedy but an intense love story.

But what about his ‘Angoor’ idea! The director was keen to remake the Hrishikesh Mukherjee classic film Angoor with Shahrukh. Rohit says he has dropped the idea now. “I had the love story idea for a long time, I changed it a bit and narrated it to Shahrukh. He liked it,” Rohit tells a daily.

Shahrukh Khan and Golmaal maker Rohit Shetty - the combo sounds rocking! But does Shahrukh have time to do a film now. He is busy with Ra.One promotion plans, and then in December his Don 2 is coming. He is also on board for a Yashraj film which is to be directed by Yash Chopra, starring Katrina Kaif.

Rohit has a solution; he will start the movie next year, since he himself is busy with Bol Bachchan which will release by July 2012. Meanwhile, he would work on the script of the film.

Shahid's Mausam Review

Some love stories may be timeless, but that doesn’t mean that the teller of such tales should have scant regard for the time of the audience. Pankaj Kapur, who, as an actor, has all my respect, spins a never-ending, forever meandering yarn called Mausam that unspools over a period of 22 years, through many seasons, half a dozen cities and gaons, and four historical events before mercifully culminating after three good hours of our patience test. One could be forgiven for thinking that a whole darned mausam passed by outside as one sat cooped up in the theatre through this bum-achingly long saga where ages pass before the muted lovers utter their first expression of affection.

Clearly, Mausam is a film belonging to the old world romance, where the lovers spend a good part of their dalliance watching each other from a distance, and when they do meet they communicate through sweet musings doodled on chits of paper. One can’t say how much this film will appeal to the Facebook generation where relationship statuses change overnight and those ‘three special words’ and much more is said and shared without even being fully sure that the person on the other end is indeed the one in the profile pic.

So you see a young Punjabi munda Harrinder aka Harry (Shahid Kapoor) cycling through the puddles of his village Mallukot and chewing on sugarcane with his buddies in sarson ke khet before he is hit by the thunderbolt called love when he sees a preternaturally tall but decidedly cute Aayat (Sonam Kapoor), a Muslim girl from Kashmir. Obviously Harry woos and serenades the Kashmiri kudi but their love story is nipped in the bud, thanks to the first historical event, the demolition of the Babri Mosque. Mausam one over!

Likewise, Mausam two, three and four arrive and pass by as Harry, now an Indian Air Force pilot, and Aayat, still gorgeous as any Kashmiri girl, meet and separate and meet and separate again as this love story flits from Scotland, Switzerland, America and Mallukot right down to the riot-hit Gujarat where the family picture is finally made complete with Harry, Aayat, an orphaned child, and…guess who?…a horse!

Pankaj Kapur describes Mausam as “a love story beyond romance” and he makes it so by setting this tale of love between a Punjabi boy and Muslim girl against the backdrop of four events of communal and religious significance: namely, the unfortunate demolition of the mosque, the Kargil war, the 9/11 attacks, and the Gujarat riots. The idea clearly is to tell a love story dovetailed with a message of social and communal harmony.

The intention deserves respect, but how one wishes Kapur had practiced a bit of restraint rather than fire on all cylinders to make the lovers writhe endlessly with pangs of separation. Even the visual quality in some scenes (like the riots or when Shahid chances upon Sonam in Switzerland) is compromised. And the air combat involving Shahid has such tacky special effects that the IAF almost stands vindicated for its objection.

Performances are strictly average. Shahid tries to make the best of the bad job by his dad but remains the typical cute loverboy transmuting into a somber gentleman while Sonam is the dainty damsel in distress from start to end, save for a few flashes of her moony smile. The songs composed by Pritam drip with melody a tad sugary for our eardrums.

To be fair, Mausam has a few moments that stick with you. The unspoken dialogue between Shahid and Sonam in a Scotland café, the rainy evening they spend huddled inside a pipe, or a brief moment between Shahid and Aditi Sharma on a train, are such glimpses of brilliance. But they are few and far between. And oh! the film is almost void of humour. The only instance when I had a hearty laugh was when a partially paralyzed Shahid saunters down an avenue in Scotland and the song that plays in the background has the lyric: “Poore se zara sa kum hai (slightly less than the whole)”.

All in all Mausam is a tiresome watch.

No Show for Miss Hilton !

Karan Johar and Simi Garewal refuse to feature America’s ‘self-made’ celebrity on their chat shows.
The party-hopping socialite will be in the city from September 24 to 26 to launch her line of handbags and accessories. Simi Garewal was apparently approached to feature her on her chat show. But the lady in white refused!

Says a source, “Simi was informed there were only initial talks with Karan Johar, but no agreement was settled and no interview with him is happening. Apparently, Karan did not want to do an interview where the questions would be dictated to him. As a result, they were keen that Simi do the Paris interview as she had also featured Lady Gaga on her show.
But Simi does not want to be a last-minute second choice.”

Composer Aadesh Shrivastava has been co-ordinating with Simi on behalf of Hilton’s managing company in India.

The source adds, “Simi has recently shot back-to-back episodes with Kangna Ranaut, Rani Mukerji, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Asin and is extremely tied-up with the post-production. She is also planning for the grand finale episode. There are deadlines to be met and Simi just can’t suddenly fit in Paris.”
